Somatic Experiencing®

Many of our deepest patterns don’t just live in words alone - they live in the body.

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a body-based approach to healing developed by Dr. Peter Levine. Rather than only talking about what happened, SE works by gently tracking sensations in the body to help your nervous system release stored stress and complete interrupted survival responses. The result isn't just insight — it's a felt sense of safety, regulation, and aliveness that talk therapy alone often can't reach.

What somatic experiencing® supports:

Trauma & Nervous System Healing

  • Releasing stored stress and incomplete survival responses held in the body

  • Reducing symptoms of hypervigilance, anxiety, panic, and emotional flooding

  • Easing patterns of shutdown, numbness, freeze, or disconnection

  • Building a felt sense of safety in your own body

  • Restoring agency and choice in how you respond to stress

  • Healing complex, relational, and developmental trauma

  • Supporting recovery from acute shock or overwhelming life events

Individual Wellbeing

  • Increasing emotional regulation and resilience over time

  • Expanding your window of tolerance for difficult feelings

  • Shifting deep patterns of reactivity, people-pleasing, or self-abandonment

  • Developing a more grounded, embodied sense of self

  • Supporting work with anxiety, depression, and chronic stress

  • Bridging the gap between what you understand intellectually and what you actually feel

  • Reconnecting with pleasure, curiosity, and a sense of aliveness

Relational Wellbeing & Couples

  • Slowing down reactive cycles so you can respond from choice rather than survival

  • Building the capacity to stay present with yourself and your partner during conflict

  • Recognizing your nervous system patterns in relationship — pursuer, withdrawer, shutdown, escalation

  • Repairing ruptures more quickly and with greater ease

  • Developing a felt sense of safety with your partner in your body, not just your mind

  • Supporting secure attachment by working at the level where attachment actually lives

  • Healing relational and betrayal wounds that talk alone hasn't been able to reach

  • Expanding your capacity for both deep connection and a grounded sense of self

  • Supporting non-monogamous, LGBTQ+, and diverse relationship structures with affirmation and care

Sexuality & Intimacy

  • Addressing sexual trauma and its impact on the body and desire

  • Reducing shame or dissociation connected to sexual experiences

  • Supporting presence and safety in intimacy with self and others

  • Healing the nervous system patterns underneath sexual avoidance or shutdown

  • Expanding capacity for pleasure, sensation, and embodied connection

  • Supporting work alongside sex therapy for deeper, body-level integration

Performing Artists & Creatives

  • Managing performance anxiety at the nervous system level — not just mentally

  • Building a more flexible, responsive, and resilient body-instrument

  • Accessing emotion fully without becoming overwhelmed or destabilized by it

  • Entering and exiting intense emotional states with greater control and care

  • Processing the cumulative toll of high-demand creative and performance work

  • Supporting recovery from psychologically or physically demanding roles

  • Developing sustainable practices for staying embodied on and off stage
